Q Avalon Launch in Dubai

British expat businessman Safi Qurashi, revealed his latest new company on Monday (04/02/13).

Qurashi, 43, has joined forces with a specialist UK firm, Avalon Abseiling, which is known as an industry leader in working on high buildings and structures.

The company, which has worked on world-famous structures such as Tower Bridge, Wembley Stadium, the Olympic arena and Windsor Castle in the UK, provides solutions for working at heights and designs and installs safety systems. The new company, Q Avalon, is part of Qurashi’s QFM, the facilities management arm of Q Group, which already boasts three companies.

Qurashi told 7DAYS on Monday: “The business is just going from strength to strength. We’ve grown very, very quickly in a very, very short period of time.

“There is still a lot of investment being pumped in to get back up, but slowly and surely the work is coming in.”

Avalon fitting new lights to Tower Bridge

Avalon abseilers are currently fitting a new LED lighting system to Tower Bridge in time for the Royal Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

As the lighting system is low energy it is no coincidence that abseilers were given the job to install them (abseiling being the greenest form of working at height)

Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, said:

“All hail to these plucky abseilers who are helping install a spectacular new low-energy lighting system for Tower Bridge in time for London’s historic summer. This is a great example of how hosting the Games is delivering benefits for Londoners that will continue for many years after the last medal has been given out.”

Our abseilers are enjoying the spectacular views from the bridge and are getting used to being photographed alongside one of the capitals great landmarks.

Work will be finished by May and the lights will be first seen in action in June (more information in the City of London Press release)
